Our label is all grown up! It now has all the specs, bar-code, and information required by the FDA in order to be sold at retail locations. Web sales coming soon!
Dear Loyal Sauce Fans,
Thank you all for such a great season. I started this venture with a simple desire to share my family's BBQ sauce with the world. Since the first market in May, we sold over 2,000 jars, made a donation to the Boys & Girls Club of Chicago, and helped broaden people's community through BBQ.
Unfortunately, we have cleared out our inventory, and we will not be at the remaining Wilmette and Wicker Park markets this season.
But don't worry! I have been working diligently to find a manufacturer in order to scale the sauce without losing its premium taste profile that we all love. Just like fine BBQ, the search for an ideal manufacturer is strenuous and cannot be rushed. As soon as we find the perfect match we will let you know.
I cannot stress my appreciation for all of you and what your support has meant in our first season.
Stay tuned, and Grill On!
MIKE FRIEDMAN WITH FATHER AND ORIGINAL SAUCE MASTER JACK FRIEDMAN GIVE AN INTERVIEW WITH THE PIONEER PRESS
Last weekend at the Glencoe Farmers Market, Mike was treated to a surprise visit by none other than the Broad Shoulders BBQ Sauce pioneer and father, Jack Friedman!
Not only was it great to have Jack there to compare the scene to that of their Ribfest years ago, but it also became a tremendous opportunity for an interview when Pioneer Press reporter Dan Dorfman stopped by the market tent.
Now published, the article is a great read to learn more about Broad Shoulders BBQ Sauce's founding. The press exposure should mean next weekend's Glencoe Farmers Market on August 13th will be busy, so make sure to stop by early for a jar of our press-worthy sauce!
THEY GROW UP SO FAST
Well here we are, 10 batches in to Broad Shoulders BBQ, with our signature sauce and our newly launched Adobe Peppers. Make sure to check out our new tent this week at the Wicker Park Farmers Market!
We are VERY excited to announce that our recent weekend at the Wicker Park Farmers Market has led to over 1,000 total jars sold!
In the few short months Broad Shoulders BBQ has been operating, this could not have been possible without a lot of help, so THANK YOU! The best part? You're still helping!
Since a proceed of every sale goes to benefit programs in the community, we are well on our way to making an impact! Stay tuned and for more information related to our community outreach, check out our Giving Back page. Grill On!
NBBQA YOU SAY?
We are thrilled to announce the National Barbecue Association (NBBQA) has featured Founder, CEO, Head Chef, and self-proclaimed Sauce Connoisseur Mike Friedman in this month's eNewsletter in an article: 6 Essential Planning Steps Before Launching Your Sauce.
Mike was interviewed by NBBQA on his experience to date on what it's been like to take his sauce dreams and make them a reality. Our first press coverage! Check it out!
The NBBQA takes pride in its members representing the leaders, movers and shakers, and thought leaders in the BBQ industry. We are tremendously thankful for the opportunity to share our story and message with so many passionate people!

A whole lot of sweet, smoke, and spice safely found its way into our delicious Batch #4.
When you've got help from friends and family, it's not only a chance for great action shots and quicker work, but it also feels that much more authentic.
In 1984 when it all began, a bunch of friends and family donned their aprons and got to work having fun competing in Ribfest. The Ribticklers went on to finish in the top 10% out of 600.
The sauce (and kitchen) has evolved but the sense of community is just as strong! BBQ is about making friends and being close with family. Grill on!!
With all the help, we went on to sell 71 jars at the market the very next day!
I've been invited to participate in the Chicago Market's BBQ CO-OP Pop-UP Market in Andersonville.
The event takes place Saturday May 21st, at the Swedish American Museum (at 5211 N. Clark St., Chicago, IL, 60640), from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Local farmers and produces will come together for a farmers market. You'll be able to pick everything you need for your Memorial Day weekend BBQ! RSVP required.
